What would happen, how would you live if you only had to answer to yourself? What would happen if the opinions of others didn't matter to you at all? What would happen if we could live our lives free of self-doubt and the voices in our head that hold us back?
I think we would all thrive. I think that we would all realize that the people who judge us, who disagree with what we think don't actually matter at all. We would realize that the magic of living, of following our passions actually opens us up to so much more living. And that there's so much more to being than worrying about what other people think.
One of the common themes I write about is taking risks, stepping outside of one's comfort zone. That's because I'm hungry for risk, ready for adventure. But aren't we all just a little? I can't think of anyone I know who isn't a little ready to do something a little crazy.
So, where to start? How do you do it? For me, it's about being spontaneous, not making a plan. I plan everything. What I'm going to wear, what I'm going to say, how things are going to work out. When I was in high school and would call a boy for the first time, I would make a list of things we could talk about. For me, there's safety in planning. It helps me know what to expect. So, that's one risk: less planning. Now, I'm not advocating for rushing off into the night with nothing. Some things should be planned. But not everything.
So, that's what I'm doing. Leaving myself open to being spontaneous, to just see what happens. I wrote about this earlier, but this is a little bit different. This is the more risky, omg-this is scary, type of not planning. I'm excited to see where it takes me...
